- We're running the Reading Half Marathon to raise money for the Coldstream Guards Charitable Fund.
Team H-J
Team H-J consists of:
Carys Hampson-Jones (28) - Team Spokesperson (she talks a lot) mum of Poppy & Archie, wife of Mark (our favourite Coldstream Guard). Carys used to run for WSE&H and this is going to be her return to glory. Carys' schedule is one designed to fit in around her busy life as a working mum and she is aiming for a sub 2.10 time.
Rhian Hampson-Jones (26) - Team Coach - all round keen runner bean. Rhian runs for Highgate Harriers and competes for them in cross country. This is her second half marathon and her job is to come up with the schedules and help keep the others on track. A PB of sub 1.35 would be nice on the day...but this requires a lot of training!
Bethan Hampson-Jones (24) - Head of Overseas Sponsorship - Bethan lives in Gibraltar so will hopefully be able to train in slightly nicer weather than the others, and accompanied by her boyfriend Neil (also competing in Reading). Bethan is also a keen bean and plays netball. A sub 2.10 result would be ideal, but Team Coach reckons she can go faster!
Elinor Hampson-Jones (23) - Head Cheerleader - already a keen runner and gym goer the half marathon will still be, as for the others, a different challenge. Still, she's got pretty long legs and now is the time to put them to good use. Ellie is going for a sub 1.50 time, and her schedule reflects this with quite a bit of speedwork and long runs.
Frances Hampson-Jones - Team Manager. Mum of the four team members, Frances is on hand for babysitting, ferrying team members to the race itself, and cheerleading. Frances is well used to this having dragged all four of them up and accompanied all four teamies to various sporting events when they were younger (and she still attends the odd race now for Rhian thereby honing her cheerleading skills), she also makes an excellent sandwich and knows all the best tactics for race spectating - don't get in the way of Frances and the finish line.
