Team H-J now, from left to right - Bethan, Carys, Elinor and Rhian.
Training has properly started now, with Carys and Bethan doing a six miler early Sunday morning together in Windsor - with Rhian and Ellie doing their long runs in London.
ELLIE:
Post Christmas and the trauma of being reliably informed that I was feeling slightly 'soggy' (thanks Nanny, really getting me for the old 'crepe paper skin comment', what can I say, I was 6!) The first few runs were a real shock to the system, not to mention the minus degree temperatures. My aim for the year was not just to achieve this half marathon, but also get to the point where doing exercise no longer felt so stomach-achingly painful! Alas, haven't quite reached that point just yet, but am proud of my longest run so far which was 14.8km - which made me really feel like I was achieving something. To the point where I wanted to yell at people on the tube, 'yeah, I'm sweaty and I'm stinking out your tube, but I just ran 14.8km, and it's for a good cause, I am a goooooooood person, woooo hooooo'. Having a reason to run is really keeping me going at the moment, especially when work gets busier and it seems so much easier not to go, whenever I feel slightly demotivated its good to remember than whatever I feel, it doesn't even come close to some of the pain Mark and co must have felt, slightly morbid - but a good reminder each time of why we're doing it, and keeping me on track and committed.
Keep up the good work Ellie! What soggy bits?!
