Well it has been a rather eventful week, Ellie remains injured, I have been knocked off my bike by a careless taxi (albeit conveniently the day before I had a sports massage booked, so thanks Six Physio for making me feel much better) and lost a toenail, although not at the same time - that would be a freak accident - and Bethan has been spreading the Team H-J word on British Forces Radio (http://www.bfbs-radio.com/). I think Carys has managed to get away without causing any mischief this week, but give her time - it's not over yet.
Bethan was brilliant when interviewed on the radio and managed to get a mention for our website, and to successfully publicise her event - which is taking place as we speak in Gibraltar. She has organised a pub crawl to raise money for Coldstream Guards Charitable Fund and for Project Mobility (see the link to the left for more information). Betty has also arranged a raffle and we look forward to adding her money raised to the final total, which is currently running at £3,300. I am sure that a flurry of emails will follow in the final few weeks, sent by various members of Team H-J cap in hand which will hopefully bump it up further.
With three weeks to go, most of the hard work is behind us, with a few more long runs and some speedwork sessions to go. I'm off to the ECCA National Championships tomorrow in Leeds, a long journey to run about in a pile of mud for 30 minutes but there you go - all good training for the half-marathon and that's what matters. Although this might be a bit painful now thanks to my toenail making a bid for freedom yesterday. Guess he was fed up with the cold and rain and decided to find a better home. Lets hope the nine remaining don't have lemming tendencies, or these next few weeks might be painful
Ellie you better still be resting that calf, Carys has a ten miler on Sunday (her longest run so far so good luck) and I imagine Bethan will be spending most of it recovering in bed from her pub golf...but she has still been promoting the cause so we will let her off. Team Manager Frances gets a special mention for her own marathon efforts in baking a million flapjacks to keep the soldiers fed on a Project Mobility weekend away.
