5 WEEKS TO GO...

...and we have raised £3,162.50 and increased our target again to £4,000 which is brilliant news. Ben and Janine have also raised £1,305 for Help for Heroes.

Everybody is still training very hard - tricky though it may be sometimes in the cold and snow. Am currently running in three tops, leggings, two gloves, two pairs of socks and a hat just to try and stay warm. It is all worth it though when we think about the amount we are raising, and the fact that we only have 5 weeks left until the big day.

Carys, Bethan and Elinor are all doing well and notching up the miles - we must have nearly reached the 500 mark since January. Bethan was featured on British Forces Radio today talking about our fundraising efforts - will hopefully be able to feature a link on here soon so we can all listen to her big moment. Bethan has also been organising a raffle in Gibralatar and will get her to add a blog entry on it shortly.

On the bright side, the sun is now peeking out just before 7am now so we can run in the daylight, the last few weeks early morning running has been a bit bleak in the dark so it's a positive delight to be able to see your own feet on a run. Although would appreciate it if the sleet could stop - running with your eyes closed to keep the rain needles out adds a new challenge to training. I've added a pic of the sun coming up over Primrose Hill which I took the other day, an early morning treat for us keen beans which makes a cold run a bit more bearable.

Incidentally, whilst on a run round Regents Park the other day I nearly got run over by Gordon Brown - which is ironic. Anyway this got me thinking about the oddest/best things I have seen whilst out on a run (erm I do have quite a lot of time to think about it now my miles are adding up!), and here they are in no particular order, for your viewing pleasure:

A dog doing a giant legs akimbo belly flop into Hampstead Heath Ponds;
My boyfriend Toan treading on a squirrel (said squirrel escaped unharmed, if a little dazed);
A man dressed in nothing but a bra, suspenders, saucy knickers and some stockings;
A bright orange sun rising over Canary Wharf from the top of Hampstead Heath;
A cat stuck in a palm tree.

So there you go, you never know what you might see on a long run. I once sat on a dog, but thats a different story.

  1. Thanks for the giggles! Can't believe your dedication - running in the dark and the sleet while I laze in bed.
    Keep up the good work all of you. x
